The northern extension on Metro line 14 from Saint Lazare station to Mairie de St Ouen is designed to relieve line 13 and absorb up to 23% of its 610,000 passengers per day. It will boost connection possibilities to accompany the urban development of the north east suburbs of Paris. It is part of the new Grand Paris urban project.

Structure of the Project

In total, the line 14 extension requires the construction of a wholly underground 5.8 km tunnel, split into two sections. For section 2, MÜHLHÄUSER (former NFM) will supply an earth pressure balance (EPB) tunnel boring machine. The machine will excavate 2.4 km of tunnel from ClichySaint-Ouen to Pleyel, including the branch tunnel connecting to the maintenance and storage site (SMR).
